Fountain Square
Fountain Square is an exciting commercial district with a distinct culture. Situated along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, it boasts an eclectic assortment of local and international restaurants, specialty shops, and entertainment venues.
Milk Tooth is a popular brunch spot in the neighborhood due to its inventive cocktails and creative takes on brunch classics. For authentic Mexican fare with more of an old-school flair, visit La Margarita on Mass Ave.
Fountain Square may look familiar if you watch HGTV. The popular series “Good Bones”, where Karen and Mina use coastal-inspired charm to transform homes into cottage-like charmers is shot here.
Historic Fountain Square is home to several landmarks, such as the Fountain Square State Bank (1909), Havercamp & Dirk’s Grocery Store (1905), Koehring & Son Warehouse and Franklin Street Post Office. Additionally, 25 of the residences listed on the National Register of Historic Places are of Queen Anne or Italianate architectural style.
The Wholesale District
Indianapolis Wholesale District is a district that has beautiful buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Union Railroad Station. This vibrant district is home to fine Italian and sea food restaurants such as Giordano’s Restaurant and cultural venues such as Indiana Repertory Theatre. This Indianapolis hotspot is unmissable because major attractions such as Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the historic Slippery Noodle Inn are all within walking distance. No wonder its renown for entertainment!
The area was named for the abundance of wholesalers that lined its streets around the turn of century. This included Centennial Block, which is part of Circle Centre Mall. It originally housed many firms including House of Crane, selling cigars, and Hanson VanCamp & Co. selling hardware products.
The Wholesale District is a great place to live. Public transportation provides excellent coverage of this bustling hub of activity.
Broad Ripple
Broad Ripple is a cultural district located north of Downtown Indianapolis. It exudes local pride and culture. From its welcoming streetscape to lively bars, clubs, restaurants and unique stores such as Indy CD & Vinyl record shop and Artifacts art gifts – Broad Ripple exudes local spirit!
Broad Ripple was named by early 1800s travelers who observed a stretch along the White River, where shallow water ran over rocks and created ripples. They thought it would make an ideal crossing. Jacob Coil adopted this natural name when he built his community Broad Ripple near Indiana Central Canal on the north bank of the White River.
Many of the historical structures that once occupied this area have survived into modernity. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has taken over the remnants of White City amusement parks. An antique carousel is still on display.
Downtown
2021 saw attendance numbers at downtown Indianapolis’ primary attractions increase by 50 percent over their 2020 levels and over 70 new retail and restaurant businesses open within its core, reflecting Indianapolis’ continued efforts in becoming an international tourist destination.
Indianapolis has something to offer everyone. Its Cultural Trail, its festivals, its unique restaurants, shops and museums are always changing. There are also ten professional teams, and the Indiana War Memorial, which is a mausoleum style museum and shrine dedicated to those who have sacrificed and served for American freedom throughout the years.

Additionally, The Indianapolis Zoo stands out as an unmissable attraction featuring over 3,800 animals that has earned its spot as one of the top zoos worldwide.
